Overview
The Paramedic is a part of the medical team aboard a cruise ship and works alongside experienced nurses and doctors. The Paramedic is the first line of medical care aboard, responds to emergency situations, treats the sick and injured, and continues that care in the medical center as part of the cruise ship's medical team. Job requirements
Nationally registered paramedics with minimum 2 years of paramedic experience and current professional certifications. Responsibilities
Provide high standards of individualized routine and emergency care to guests and crew. Act as first responders, triage emergency calls, assess and treat on the scene, and transfer patients to the shipboard medical center for definitive care. In addition to first response duties, work closely with shipboard nurses and doctors to attend to patients at daily walk-in clinics. Using specific patient group directives, practice autonomously under the authority of doctors, assessing patients and providing treatment and advice for specific conditions. Additional duties
Perform various technical and non-clinical administrative tasks that support the efficient and safe operation of the medical center under the direction and supervision of the Senior Nurse. Equipment checks, medicines and inventory management, participation in drills, audits, inspections, and training of other crew members. Technical skills learned on board, such as X-ray acquisition and performing a wide array of laboratory tests and other procedures. Professional conduct
