We provide secure, high-quality language access in more than 80 spoken and signed languages for USCIS and other federal agencies.
We are seeking Foochow (also called Fuzhounese, Fuzhounese, Fuzhou dialect, or Foo Chow) Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Foochow is a rare Chinese dialect of the Min Dong language group, spoken in Fuzhou (Fujian Province, China) and diaspora communities, and is frequently required in asylum and immigration interviews.
Responsibilities
Provide real-time Foochow (Fuzhounese)
English telephonic interpretation for USCIS officers, applicants, and stakeholders. Ensure interpretations are accurate, impartial, and culturally appropriate in immigration, asylum, and legal contexts. Maintain confidentiality under USCIS/DHS interpreter standards. Handle both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge interpretation requests. Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance audits. Qualifications
Native or near-native fluency in Foochow (Fuzhounese) and English. 2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, asylum, community, or government preferred). Familiarity with Chinese dialect variations (Mandarin and Cantonese knowledge is a plus). Strong knowledge of interpreter ethics, neutrality, and confidentiality. Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 security clearance. Compensation & Benefits
