We are seeking Kurdish Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Kurdish, spoken across Iraq, Syria, Turkey, Iran, and diaspora communities, is a priority Middle Eastern language for asylum, refugee, and immigration cases. Both Kurmanji and Sorani dialects are in high demand.
Responsibilities
Provide real-time Kurdish (Kurmanji and/or Sorani)
English telephonic interpretation for USCIS interviews, hearings, and asylum proceedings. Interpret with accuracy, impartiality, and professionalism in sensitive immigration and legal contexts. Maintain confidentiality in line with USCIS/DHS interpreter standards. Handle both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge calls. Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance reviews. Qualifications
Native or near-native fluency in Kurdish (Kurmanji and/or Sorani) and English. 2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, asylum, legal, NGO, medical, or government strongly preferred). Familiarity with interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and neutrality standards. Strong knowledge of Kurdish-speaking cultural contexts. Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 clearance. Compensation & Benefits
