As an Art History teacher in New York City’s top-performing network of K-12 charter schools, you will join a team of professionals committed to teaching and preparing children from low-income neighborhoods to be self-assured thinkers and leaders, capable of exploring and debating sophisticated ideas, and ready for college and whatever they set their sights on. At Success Academy, our Art History program ignites a passion in scholars for artistic thinking and curiosity. We develop our scholars to engage creatively, critically, and meaningfully with the world around them in ways that are endlessly fascinating, complex, and philosophical. Scholars engage flexibly with different disciplines, seeing engineering, physics, mathematics, chemistry, and biology as interdependent. We place a strong emphasis on scientific literacy, with attention to reading, writing, and data literacy. A background in education is not required. Success Academy provides extensive training and a proven curriculum so you can focus on working with your students rather than building lesson plans. As a teacher at Success, you will: Sharpen your communication skills and develop meaningful relationships with students, families, peers, and mentors (including writing letters of recommendation at the middle school and high school level). Become a skilled problem solver to tackle challenges in and out of the classroom. Learn to assess and analyze data to chart student growth and tailor teaching methods accordingly. Engage in professional development with school leaders to receive targeted feedback and coaching. Have the opportunity to grow as a leader and join our leadership tracks, including roles such as assistant principal or transitions to our network office.
