Overview Community Medical Services (CMS) is hiring a Substance Abuse Counselor to assist patients recovering from addictions to opioids and other illicit substances. Your work will involve facilitating individual or group sessions, developing treatment plans, and providing coping strategies to foster a safe place for anyone starting their recovery journey with us.

Responsibilities

Maintain and manage a caseload in compliance with regulatory standards and ratios.

Conduct individual sessions, facilitate group counseling, and deliver didactic educational presentations.

Complete comprehensive behavioral health assessments and individualized treatment plans, ensuring regulatory compliance.

Evaluate treatment effectiveness through ongoing assessment of the client and their natural supports, modifying service plans as needed.

Coordinate care with other recovery and community-based service providers, engaging in case management activities.

Include family and natural supports in the client’s treatment, per client preference.

Maintain a thorough and comprehensive client record, ensuring chart compliance.

Assist in screening and coordinating primary care services for clients.

Qualifications

Combination of one of the following education and licensure levels required:

Associates degree and active ADC‑T license.

Bachelors degree and active LADC license.

Masters degree and active LPC license.
