The College of Nursing at UT Knoxville seeks an innovative and compelling Clinical Assistant, Associate or Full Professor to educate the next generation of healthcare professionals. This faculty position emphasizes teaching excellence, service, and a commitment to diversity in a dynamic academic environment. Duties and Responsibilities
Participate in program and course revisions. Revise assigned courses to reflect program outcomes, AACN essentials, state board of nursing minimum standards, current evidence, and best practice. Collaborate with emphasis area coordinators, clinical concentration coordinators, program directors, and the Associate and Assistant Deans to identify the types of clinical experiences and sites needed for optimal clinical education of students. Teach graduate and undergraduate nursing courses as assigned. Teaching assignments are based on UT CON needs as well as individual faculty member expertise and performance; faculty may be asked to teach across both undergraduate and graduate programs. Supervise nursing students as assigned. Collaborate with clinical agencies in arranging student clinical experiences (e.g., orientation to objectives of clinical experience, course syllabus, clinical schedule) as appropriate. Participate in the development of academic policies affecting the admission, progression, graduation and dismissal of students. Participate in the evaluation and ongoing enhancement of the curricula. Apply evidence from best education practices to curriculum development and to teaching. Serve the College of Nursing, University, community and profession: Participate in College of Nursing faculty, standing committees, task forces and other meetings. Participate in Faculty Senate Committees and ad hoc committees, as elected. Participate in community and professional activities as appropriate. Participate in scholarly projects as appropriate. Contribute to the mission and strategic priorities of the College of Nursing and the University of Tennessee Knoxville. Collaborate effectively with other faculty and staff members within the College of Nursing and throughout the University and community to develop inter-professional academic, clinical, and research opportunities. This position is open to Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, or Clinical Professor, with rank appointments determined by education and qualifications relative to university and college standards. Qualifications
Required Qualifications: Earned doctorate (PhD or DNP) at time of appointment. Licensure as a registered nurse in Tennessee prior to employment. Minimum of 3 years of nursing practice experience. Effective interpersonal skills and cultural competence. Ability to work with a diverse group of students and colleagues. Desirable Qualifications: Evidence of successful classroom and/or clinical teaching experience. Eligibility for APRN licensure in Tennessee. If teaching nurse practitioner students, national certification as a nurse practitioner and recognition by the Tennessee Board of Nursing as an advanced practice registered nurse before employment.
