Academic Instructor - Youth Workforce Development (Math & Science). This is a full-time, on-site position located at 25 Victory Blvd. (3rd Fl.), Staten Island. Schedule: Monday–Friday 8:30am–4:30pm (35 hrs/wk); rare evening or weekend hours may be required depending on program needs. Salary: 50,000 per year plus a comprehensive benefits package. Essential Responsibilities

Administer the TABE (Test of Adult Basic Education) and use results to assess baseline skills, guide individualized instruction, and monitor academic progress. Design and deliver dynamic, trauma-informed academic instruction aligned with GED standards and student learning levels. Create individualized learning plans based on academic assessments, personal goals, and learning styles. Develop and implement lesson plans in advance, integrating real-world themes and culturally responsive teaching methods. Incorporate financial literacy (e.g., budgeting, saving, credit basics) and digital literacy (e.g., online research, email use, digital tools for learning) into academic instruction to build real-life competencies alongside GED preparation. Use instructional technology and multimedia tools to enhance engagement and accommodate different learning needs. Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and peer collaboration. Prepare students for all GED subject areas: Reasoning Through Language Arts, Mathematical Reasoning, Science, and Social Studies. Track and monitor student progress through assessments, portfolios, and attendance. Write and submit timely monthly progress reports and case notes in alignment with DYCD data and documentation requirements. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and youth development planning to support participant success. Collaborate with career readiness, support services, and HSE testing teams to ensure holistic participant support. Support DYCD monitoring, site visits, and compliance documentation as needed. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Education, Human Services, Counseling, or related field required. Master’s degree or NYS teacher certification a plus. Minimum 3 years of experience teaching or tutoring youth, preferably in GED preparation, alternative education, or workforce development settings. Familiarity with GED curriculum, TABE testing, and adult basic education instructional methods strongly preferred. Strong commitment to equity, opportunity youth, and trauma-informed practice. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal and cultural competency skills. Ability to build positive rapport and motivate disconnected youth. Highly organized with the ability to manage classroom planning, assessments, and reporting timelines. Flexible, proactive, and solution-oriented in fast-paced, evolving program settings. Experience working with DYCD-funded or similar youth programs is a plus. Bilingual (English/Spanish or other relevant languages) preferred. Valid NYS Driver’s License preferred but not required.
