Operational Key Account Manager
to join our Erlanger, KY team. Position Summary: The
Operational Key Account Manager
serves as the primary operational liaison for designated key accounts, ensuring seamless execution of air and ocean freight services from booking to final delivery. This role combines operational coordination, customer service, and performance management, with a focus on building strong client relationships and driving continuous improvement in service delivery. Key Responsibilities: Act as the main operational point of contact for assigned key accounts, ensuring consistent communication and high service levels. Oversee day-to-day operational activities for both
air and ocean freight shipments , including bookings, documentation, customs clearance, and delivery coordination. Proactively monitor shipment milestones, identify potential issues, and implement corrective actions to prevent service failures. Collaborate with internal teams (operations, customs, sales, finance) to meet customer requirements and contractual service levels. Ensure all documentation is accurate, compliant, and processed within required timelines. Conduct regular performance reviews with customers, providing shipment analysis, KPI reports, and service improvement recommendations. Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies and cost savings without compromising service quality. Support commercial teams with onboarding new accounts and transitioning them into operational service. Handle escalations swiftly, providing timely resolutions and root cause analysis. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of air and ocean freight regulations, Incoterms, and international trade compliance. Qualifications & Skills: 3+ years of operational experience in
freight forwarding , preferably in both air and ocean logistics. Strong understanding of international shipping processes, documentation, and compliance requirements. Excellent customer service and relationship management skills. Proficient in logistics management systems and MS Office Suite. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities in a fast-paced environment. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently while collaborating across departments. Preferred Qualifications: Experience managing
key accounts
in a freight forwarding environment. Knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations and international trade compliance. Bilingual skills (e.g., Spanish, German, Mandarin) are a plus.
