Overview
Full Time Assistant Store Manager (Store 3731) at GameStop. Working with minimal supervision, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations. The role develops and promotes a sales culture by creating individualized and complete solutions for every guest and providing outstanding guest service experiences through professional conduct and shared passion for gaming. You will be responsible for ensuring that products are easy to see and buy, building sales by sharing product and gaming knowledge with guests, providing a clean, organized environment in which to shop, and growing guest loyalty and repeat business. This position supervises Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Provide best-in-class guest service: promptly greet guests; respond to questions/concerns quickly, effectively, and courteously; inform guests of special promotions; recommend additional items as appropriate; apply all selling behaviors during every transaction and thank every guest for shopping at GameStop; circulate throughout the store to prioritize guests over tasks.
Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
Process guest purchases/returns accurately using the POS system; ensure correct changes, provide receipts, and maintain top-notch guest service.
Respond to guest questions in person or by phone; escalate issues to the Store Manager when appropriate.
Promote GameStop’s guest benefits, including new title reservations, trade-in program, and Pro Rewards loyalty program.
Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations and training store associates on company policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Observe associate performance, provide feedback, and address unsatisfactory performance as directed; ensure alignment with guest service expectations.
Provide recognition and feedback to associates; input feedback into the Workday/HR system in partnership with the Store Manager.
Ensure onboarding, training, and compliance training for associates prior to shifts; ensure knowledge of policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, and ethical responsibilities.
Schedule store associates following guidelines; supervise staffing to achieve optimum guest service; ensure breaks and meals are accounted for.
Approve payroll, enter time off, and verify pay for time worked.
Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandising per guidelines; ensure fixtures and equipment are in working order.
Fulfill Omni-Channel orders daily.
Protect company assets through inventory control and loss prevention; inspect packages at closing as appropriate; communicate concerns to the Store Manager.
Support the store team in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals and perform required administrative tasks.
Conduct store inventory counts, restock merchandise, and ensure products are represented and alphabetized on the sales floor.
Balance and reconcile daily POS totals; complete closeout paperwork and bank deposits according to guidelines.
Verify shipments for discrepancies; record discrepancies and conduct inventories; communicate findings to management.
Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls with proper labeling and packing.
Maintain awareness of guest and associate safety; report injuries promptly.
Assist in maintaining neat store records/files; keep manuals up to date.
Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager.
Adhere to GameStop policies and procedures and opening/closing procedures.
Qualifications
Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States.
Must be at least 18 years old.
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business/marketing/merchandising or related field preferred.
At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred; at least 2 years of retail sales/guest service/management experience preferred.
Video game knowledge preferred.
