Position Description
Employees in this position are responsible for augmenting a supervising physician's data gathering abilities to reach decisions and institute patient care plans. Provides health care services to patients under direction and responsibility of a Physician.

Major/Essential Functions
Provides patient services under direct supervision and responsibility of Physician and/or Medical Director.
Involvement in patient evaluations, both follow up and new patient clinic visits, may include inpatient rounds.
Elicits detailed patient histories.
Screen New Patient intake packets for needed information:
MD referral details and office notes, op notes Pathology reports, slide requests and procedure notes. Obtain radiology reports and arrange for films Mammogram reports, colonoscopy reports, biopsy results, Pap/HPV reports
Examines patient, performs comprehensive physical examination and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination. Administers or orders diagnostic tests and interprets test results for deviations from normal in collaboration with Physician. Performs therapeutic procedures and post follow up care such as injections, immunizations, wound care, staple removal and chemotherapy orders. Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes and assist in provision of continuity of care. Answer patient phone calls, provide symptom management during operating hours. Assist with routine medication refills, new Rx in consultation with attending Physician. Provide notification of test results to patients (Pap/HPV, bone density scans, routine x-rays). Assist with chemotherapy education and counseling. Instructs and counsels patients regarding compliance with prescribed regimens. Optional, provides surgical assistance. Performs other duties as assigned.
