Assistant Professor - English Department: English, College of Arts and Sciences, Texas Tech University. Three (3) full-time, 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professors to begin September 1, 2026. The Department of English is diverse, dynamic, and interdisciplinary with 45 tenure-line faculty and programs in English and in Technical Communication and Rhetoric. It offers BA, MA, and PhD programs, and graduate certificates in Grants & Proposals and in Teaching Technical Communication. The program supports roughly 120 graduate students and provides facilities such as the User Experience Lab, the Media Lab, and the Letterpress Studio. Contribute to the department's teaching mission. Mentor graduate students. Develop a record of peer-reviewed/funded research. Provide service to the department, college, university, and profession. Organization
Texas Tech University, Lubbock Faculty Qualifications
PhD in English, Rhetoric and Writing Studies, Technical Communication, or a related field by time of hire. At least 2 years of demonstrated effectiveness as a college-level teacher (experience as a graduate student counts). Research focus in technical communication, rhetorical studies, or composition/writing studies. Record of peer-reviewed publication or a clear research/publishing agenda showing promise. Preferred Qualifications
Administrative experience in program, department, college, or university settings. 2 years of online teaching experience. Record of scholarship supported by funding (internal and/or external grants). Duty Point
