Position Description
The Department of Landscape Architecture in the Davis College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources at Texas Tech University invites applications for a full‑time, 9‑month, tenure‑track Assistant Professor position to begin in the fall 2026 semester (September 1, 2026) or earlier. The Department seeks a colleague with diverse skills, knowledge, and experiences who will advance the landscape architecture discipline, promote critical and creative design approaches, and integrate social, technical, and biophysical processes in the design of resilient landscapes with spatial experiences that inspire and delight.
Applicants should demonstrate how their research and teaching emphasis connects to TTU Strategic Research Themes, which include Systems Resilience & Adaptability, Powering Our Future, Advancing One Health, Rural & Urban Development, and Strengthening National Security. Candidates with strong scholarship records supported by extramural funding and the capacity to bring externally sponsored research to TTU are encouraged to apply. Service duties include program‑building and a commitment to extracurricular activities. Service to the department, college, and university is expected.

About the Department/School/Area The Department of Landscape Architecture (DoLA) offers accredited Bachelor (BLA) and Master (MLA) of Landscape Architecture programs. The DoLA contributes to the research enterprise of the Davis College, engaging students in service‑learning and outreach to the Lubbock community. Facilities include the CASNR Annex and the newly renovated Agricultural Pavilion studio space.
Major/Essential Functions Applicants should have experience working with a breadth of student populations at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels within teaching, research/creative activity, and service. As a faculty member in the Department of Landscape Architecture, you will be expected to:
Contribute to the teaching mission of the DoLA by combining your areas of interest and expertise.
Mentor and recruit graduate students (MLA and PhD) who share interests with your research agenda.
Develop a record of peer‑reviewed or funded research that promotes the mission and vision of the DoLA.
Provide service to the DoLA, the Davis College, TTU, and the profession that connects with your expertise.
Faculty Qualifications Required qualifications:
Accredited BLA or MLA and a terminal PhD in a related discipline, or a terminal landscape architecture degree (MLA).
Experience teaching landscape architecture studio or lecture courses (including graduate‑student teaching) in at least one area: Resilient landscapes, Urbanization and urban design, Landscape performance, Landscape technology.
Strong landscape architecture skills and knowledge evidenced by an emerging or established research record in at least one of the aforementioned areas.
Preferred Qualifications
US professional licensure and/or a strong record of professional practice.
Peer‑reviewed research and/or juried design awards at regional, national, or international level.
Evidence of capacity to generate external funding or an impactful research agenda.
Demonstrated experience with outreach and engagement, including community‑engaged projects, outside collaborations, lectures, workshops, exhibits, K‑12 outreach, policy and advocacy, and community design centers.
