Job Purpose / Summary The WD Store Manager will effectively lead, manage, and develop overall stand-alone liquor store operations and associates to execute best practices and maximize sales and profitability. This position is accountable for the profit and loss (P&L) for their store and must use leadership and merchandising skills to manage the product levels and make sound business decisions. This role will create a shopping and working environment that exemplifies the company’s commitment to and vision of service, quality, and neighborhood partnerships by promoting and executing consistent operating conditions, providing fresh and appealing products, providing courteous, knowledgeable, and prompt service and a friendly atmosphere in the department.

Essential Responsibilities

Store Leadership – Lead and empower teams to deliver a great shopping experience in alignment with the company’s vision, goals, expectations, and policies; maintain open communication for ideas, suggestions, and feedback; demonstrate exceptional customer service and promote a service-oriented image.

Fiscal Leadership – Manage the fiscal budget, in-stock, inventory, shrink, and expenses including labor and supply management and cash control with integrity; maximize sales and profits through effective display, ordering, scheduling, and work planning; analyze P&L and communicate findings and action plans with the district manager.

Associate Leadership – Recruit, interview, hire, orient, train, evaluate, and develop associates; provide feedback, recognition, and development; ensure adherence to state and federal employment laws and company policies; partner with HR and legal as needed; reprimand or terminate as necessary.

Qualifications Education

Required: High School / GED

Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field

Languages

Required: English

Preferred: English and Spanish

Experience

6 - 10 years minimum supervisory/leadership experience; or 1 - 5 years minimum in SEG roles; or 5 years of management experience in supermarkets, retail, restaurants, hotels, or general business.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Must be at least 21 years of age.

TIPS Training required prior to position start date.

Ability to obtain Food Safety Certification within 180 days of placement.

High integrity and reliability; strong customer service skills; knowledge of liquor, wines, and beers; excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Environmental Factors Retail - Location Management: Physical Demands and working conditions include standing/walking, manual dexterity, speaking, vision, hearing, and repetitive movements; lifting up to required weights; potential exposure to indoor/outdoor, cold, wet/humid, and hazardous environments; exposure to loud noise, irritants, fumes, and other toxins. May involve use of various equipment and tools specific to the department.

Additional Information Addendum: Proven experience in a SEG lead position or equivalent management experience in supermarkets, retail, restaurants, hotels, or general business.

Cicerone Certification; Alcohol Compliance Training; Tapping and Configuring Kegs; Perfect Pour Essentials; Beer Science & Styles; Wine & Spirits Training; Cigar/Humidor training; Sampling station – wine dispenser.
