High School English Teacher (Education) Legacy Early College is a K4-12 public charter school focused on "To and Through College" at every grade level. The school combines academics with nutrition, physical fitness, and social-emotional literacy, and operates on the site of the historic Parker High School and the former Greenville County Fine Arts Center.

Position Overview Legacy Early College is looking for a High School English Teacher with the ability to ensure student success through differentiated instruction. The candidate must create and maintain a climate that promotes knowledge, skills, and character traits needed to succeed through college and beyond. This position reports to the School Principal.

Responsibilities

Plan a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.

Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and developmentally appropriate for the students.

Prepare lessons that reflect best practices and accommodations for individual differences.

Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request of the immediate supervisor.

Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.

Guide the learning process toward achievement of curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects.

Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with best practices, content knowledge, and space and student needs.

Strive to implement the school's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.

Assess student learning through observations and formal methods, providing ongoing feedback, information to parents, and progress reports.

Take necessary precautions to ensure safety in the classroom and the school for all students.

Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law and policy.

Assist administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct.

Develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.

Maintain and improve professional competence.

Participate in professional development, team meetings, and committees; maintain professional relationships with colleagues.

Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, and community members.

Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree, required.

South Carolina teaching certificate, preferred.

Spanish-speaking ability, preferred but not required.

Strong organization and project management skills.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Attention to detail and follow-through.

K-12 teaching experience is highly preferred.

Work Schedule Teachers operate on the Legacy Early College academic calendar, with a 195-day (10-month) schedule. Typical week: Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Breaks include Fall (one week), Winter (two weeks), and Spring (one week).

Physical Demands Long periods of standing and sitting, with the ability to lift items up to 25 lbs. The position may require travel and periodic participation in Legacy-related activities.

Work Environment The role includes extended hours during peak periods to support development and delivery of high-quality education for all students.
