Overview
The City of Fredonia is currently accepting applications for a full-time Police Officer. Our department operates on 12-hour shifts (84 hours per pay period), with every other weekend off. Officers must be willing and available to work holidays, nights, and weekends as scheduled. The Fredonia Police Department promotes a family-oriented culture and strives to accommodate personal scheduling conflicts when possible—provided required hours are met and staffing levels allow. Once certified, officers will have opportunities to attend specialized training that supports the department’s mission and goals. Fredonia is a close-knit community of approximately 2,100 residents located in southeast Kansas, about 90 miles from four major metropolitan areas. Compensation
Entry-Level Officers: Starting wage is approximately $15.00/hour, with increases following successful graduation from the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center (KLETC) and completion of a 90-day post-academy probationary period. Lateral Entry Officers: Starting wage ranges from $18.00 to $20.00/hour, based on experience and qualifications. Out-of-State Certified Officers: Required to complete a 40-hour reciprocity training course within the first year of employment. Benefits

Minimum Qualifications
No prior law enforcement experience is required. Applicants must meet the following criteria: Education: High school diploma or GED Age: Must be at least 21 years old Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license required Training: Must be able to attend and graduate from KLETC within one year of employment Background: Must pass a criminal background check with no felony or major misdemeanor convictions Character: Must possess good moral character and have no Brady/Giglio disclosure concerns Communication: Must demonstrate proficient communication skills Drug Screen: Must pass a drug screening Physical Exam: Must pass a job-related physical examination How to Apply
