Research Support Specialist (Finance)

The Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of South Florida, Morsani College of Medicine, provides clinical care at Tampa General Hospital across three sites, including a Level 1 trauma center and two emergency departments, with over 120,000 patient encounters annually and more than 40 faculty members. The department's outpatient services are expanding in addiction, primary care, and sports medicine. The USF EM residency program, started in 2003, graduates 10 residents per year with a 96% board pass rate. The department is heavily involved in undergraduate medical education and maintains a robust research program in various emergency medicine specialties, offering postgraduate fellowships.

The Research Support Specialist (RSS) will coordinate, conduct, and evaluate research activities for clinical projects. Responsibilities include overseeing regulatory components of trials, screening, enrolling, and retaining study participants, coordinating study visits, ensuring data quality, and implementing study procedures according to regulations, under the supervision of the Principal Investigator and Associate Director of Research.

Qualifications include a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent and four years of experience in office, administrative, or research support roles. College education may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.

Key responsibilities:

Collect data for social services or medical grant projects and resolve discrepancies.

Use relational databases to maintain records and generate reports.

Collect data from program participants.

Travel to remote sites for data collection.

Draft parts of publications or training manuals and create data visualizations.

Update project websites with data collection forms and related content.

Inform potential participants and the public about studies.
