Summary Performs patrolling, surveillance, escorting, investigation and intervention services in an effort to protect the safety and security of patients, visitors, employees, physicians and property. Incumbent is authorized to make arrests in accordance with the state and local provisions. Responsibilities
Patrols buildings and grounds of hospital, and observes for unsafe or illegal activity, and for doors/areas which are not secured. Responds to calls for help with moving, positioning or restraining patients. Assists injured/ill patients with getting in and out of vehicles. Responds to calls for help with unruly, abusive, combative, threatening or armed persons. Responds to calls for escorts. Responds to calls from authorized personnel to unlock doors. Responds to calls for vehicular, helicopter or public traffic control. Responds to calls for assistance from the morgue and assists funeral home personnel with physically moving bodies. Responds to fire and security alarms. Transports IVC patients. Obtains required paperwork from Magistrates’ offices, upon request. May transport cash, checks and other documents to/from area banks upon request. Documents work activities and incidents. Performs other duties as needed. Other Information
High school graduate or GED. Graduate of accredited Basic Law Enforcement Training program Obtain Private Protective Services armed certification within 90 days of hire or Graduate of accredited Basic Law Enforcement Training Program. Experience in health care or university campus experience preferred. Commissioned as a law enforcement officer by the State of North Carolina or receive Private Protective Service’s armed certification within 90 days of hire. Must obtain North Carolina driver’s license within 90 days of hire. CPI Certification (Must obtain within 90-days of hire). Recertification required every 2 years. BCLS Certification (Must obtain within 90-days of hire). Recertification required every 2 years. 2 years of experience; preferably in a hospital setting.
