Overview
Primary leadership responsibility is to create an uplifting and friendly customer experience through exceptional service by highly satisfying each customer's needs and exceeding their expectations. The role includes interviewing, training, evaluating performance, rewarding and coaching associates. Demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety. Based in Salt Lake City, Utah, Smith's Food and Drug merged with The Kroger Company in 1998. Today, we serve Smith's customers in over 140 stores across Utah, Nevada, New Mexico, Arizona, Montana, Idaho and Wyoming. Responsibilities
Interview, train, evaluate performance, reward and coach associates.
Demonstrate and uphold the company’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.
Provide leadership to create a positive customer experience and meet customer needs and expectations.
Lead and manage the scheduling of Deli associates to provide adequate department coverage to meet customer demand.
Communicate company, department, and job-specific information to associates, including updates from board meetings and huddles.
Ensure new associates are properly oriented to the department and understand the benefits of working.
Support the Customer 1st team and promote corporate brands to customers with educated staff.
Delegate work assignments with clear direction and monitor progress; ensure responsibilities are covered when absent.
Maintain timely, accurate performance feedback and conduct performance reviews; reward and coach as appropriate.
Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines; reinforce safety programs by identifying unsafe conditions and notifying store management.
Stay current with present, future, seasonal, and special ads; promote promotions in partnership with store management.
Provide support for departmental budgeting and profit/loss reviews; participate in developing/ implementing a department business plan to achieve results.
Provide actionable feedback to help teams and individuals grow; align work with key store initiatives.
Communicate priorities and goals clearly; recognize progress toward goals.
Maintain knowledge of products to ensure resources are available for customers and associates.
Assist store management in allocating resources to ensure customer and associate needs are met.
Provide supervision and coaching for Deli associates, including performance reviews and recognition.
Demonstrate ability to work cooperatively in a high-paced and sometimes stressful environment; manage conflict constructively.
Follow directions, seek assistance when necessary, and resolve customer and business issues with honesty and integrity.
Support and assist through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and/or older adults as required.
Perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
