CDOC Correctional Officer II: Limon, Colorado

State of Colorado – Limon Correctional Facility (LCF). Only Colorado state residents may apply. Responsibilities

Provide lead work guidance and training to assigned positions. Recommend assignments for correctional officers. Provide input into performance plans. Promote and maintain a safe and secure environment through clear communication and adherence to agency regulations. Enforce statutes, regulations, orders, directives, and procedures. Manage inmate behavior and encourage personal accountability through effective professional communication. Monitor and control access to the facility and restricted areas. Train and guide assigned staff on applying proper use of controlled items, keys, tools, equipment, and chemicals. Enforce security procedures by conducting work‑site searches, inmate counts, controlling unauthorized contraband, strip searches, cell searches, patrol searches, and transportation. Respond to emergency situations such as fights, fires and escapes according to CDOC policy and prepare and submit required reports. May be required to seize, hold, control, and/or otherwise subdue violent, assaulting, or physically threatening persons which requires body strength and agility of all four limbs. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED certificate. Two (2) years of corrections‑related experience, law enforcement patrol experience, or military experience. Preferred Qualifications

Corrections experience with CDOC. Strong organizational commitment. Team building skills. Experience with housing and security operations. Good computer skills. Experience in coaching or mentoring.
