Assistant Dining Room Manager

Blackberry Farm The Assistant Restaurant Manager supports the Dining Room Manager and other ADRMs in overseeing daily operations of a high-volume, fine dining restaurant within a luxury resort setting. This role ensures exceptional guest service, seamless front-of-house operations, and strong collaboration with the culinary team to deliver world-class dining experiences. The Assistant Manager acts as a leader, mentor, and problem-solver, fostering a culture of professionalism, hospitality, and operational excellence. Overview
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Responsibilities
Guest Experience & Service Excellence Uphold and model luxury service standards, ensuring every guest interaction reflects the resort’s brand promise. Proactively engage with guests on the floor, handling special requests, VIPs, and service recovery with professionalism. Monitor dining room flow to maintain high service levels during peak periods. Operational Leadership Assist the DRM in supervising daily operations, including reservations, table assignments, and floor management, openings and closings. Support the team on the floor, during service in all FOH capacities (sections, bar, wine support) as well as in a catering role (expedition, beverage and service of group and event functions). Supervise, coach, and motivate FOH staff to perform at the highest level with strong emotional intelligence and empathy. Conduct line-ups to communicate standards, company updates/directives/messaging, menu changes, and reservations. Assist with hiring, onboarding, scheduling, training, and performance reviews of FOH team members. Promote teamwork and collaboration between FOH and BOH, ensuring smooth communication and mutual respect. Food & Beverage Expertise Maintain a high level of knowledge of food, wine, spirits, and service techniques appropriate to fine dining and specifically to the cuisine and Executive Chef of the restaurant. Support continuous menu and wine training for FOH staff to ensure confidence and accuracy in guest interactions. Standards & Compliance Ensure adherence to health, safety, and sanitation standards across the restaurant. Maintain compliance with local, state, and resort policies, including alcohol service regulations. Support brand consistency through attention to detail in ambiance, cleanliness, and presentation. Qualifications
Minimum 1-2 years in a Captain or supervisor leadership level in a BF/BMTN restaurant required. Strong knowledge of food, wine, and beverage programs, with ability to train and guide staff. Proven ability to lead in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining luxury service standards. Foundational leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills that are in alignment with Blackberry Farm Leadership values and competencies Proficiency in Micros, Microsoft Office, Resort Suite and ResDiary. Flexible schedule with availability on nights, weekends, and all company recognized holidays. Must comply with all company policies and procedures. To perform the essential functions of this position regular and consistent attendance is required. Must be able to work well with other Team Members and Managers and interact with our guests. Dining Room Supervisors and Line Level Team Education and/or Experience
2-3 years’ operational management or supervisory experience in upscale dining room Knowledge of wine and spirits Computer experience: word processing, spreadsheets, property management systems High school diploma or equivalent required Language Skills
Strong listening and high interpretive skills Must be able to communicate effectively with guests, managers, and team members Mathematical Skills
Knowledge and understanding of property management cashiering procedures Ability to understand and comprehend budgeting issues and labor calculation Reasoning Ability
Must be able to exercise judgment and make decisions based on job knowledge and awareness of company goals Physical Demands
Ability to be on your feet for long periods of time Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Must be able to safely operate a company vehicle or golf cart Work Environment
