5th and 6th Grade ELAR Teacher
to join our dynamic lower school team. The role offers an opportunity to inspire and nurture young learners in a values-driven, academically rigorous environment that supports the whole child—intellectually, emotionally, and socially. Responsibilities include: Teaching core subjects including Language Arts and Social Studies using student-centered, differentiated instruction. Creating a warm, inclusive, and respectful classroom culture that reflects AYA’s commitment to academic excellence and character development. Designing engaging lessons that incorporate technology, executive functioning, and social-emotional learning (SEL) practices. Monitoring and assessing student growth through formative and summative assessments, providing timely and individualized feedback. Collaborating with fellow educators, learning specialists, and school leadership to support each student’s success. Maintaining open communication with parents and guardians. Engaging in ongoing professional development and contributing to the school community. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field (Master’s preferred). Valid teaching certification or equivalent experience in elementary education. Classroom experience in grades K–5, with upper elementary experience preferred. Familiarity with literacy instruction, inquiry-based learning, and differentiated teaching strategies. Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills. A passion for fostering a love of learning, building relationships with students, and addressing diverse learning needs. Understanding of Jewish values and traditions is a plus, but not required.
