The City of Lubbock will accept applications for Probationary Police Officer positions from Saturday, May 3, 2025, to Friday, September 19, 2025.
The Probationary Police Officer Entrance Exam will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 8:30 a.m. at the Lubbock Police Academy, 508 Davis Dr, Lubbock, TX 79416, within the Reese Center. Applicants should arrive by 7:45 a.m. All applications must be completed online and received by the City of Lubbock Human Resources Department by 11:59 p.m. on September 19, 2025. Interested candidates
must
apply online. Note: When completing the online application, you do not need to fill out the sections on Work History, Certificates and Licenses, Skills, and References. Applicants wishing to receive Honorable Discharge Credit for military service must provide proof (e.g., DD Form 214 Service 2, Member 4, or Service 7). Discharges other than Honorable are not acceptable.
This proof must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on September 19, 2025,
either attached to the online application titled “Your Name and DD214” or emailed to
DD214LPD@MYLUBBOCK.US
with “Your Name and DD214” in the subject line.
Only the DD-214 form should be attached. Questions about physical or entry requirements should be directed to

If your birthday is after March 27, 2005, you are not eligible. Applicants must pass the entrance exam before taking the Physical Ability Test, which will be held on September 27, 2025. The eligibility list will be valid from September 27, 2025, to March 27, 2026, unless exhausted earlier. The physical test involves a
timed
2000-meter row. The passing score is set at 40%, calculated based on age, weight, and gender. There is no fixed time to pass; each applicant’s time varies. To estimate your required time, visit
this link . Select the Concept 2 Rower Calculator and input your details, setting the desired result to 40% to estimate your needed time. If desired, you can practice on a Concept 2 Rower before the exam. The department will post practice session details on social media. Additionally, the Lubbock Police Department will provide a study guide for the written exam via email, with a coupon code included.
