Department Summary The G. Brint Ryan College of Business is the choice of nearly 10,000 students, making it one of the largest business schools in the nation. Since 1961, the college has been continuously accredited by the AACSB, a hallmark of the world's best business schools. Nationally recognized and cutting-edge degrees enable students to learn beyond the classroom so they can become leaders in their field.
UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. Position Details The Department of Finance, Insurance, Real Estate, and Law at the University of North Texas G. Brint Ryan College of Business invites applications for the appointment of Lecturer in Business Law starting in Spring 2026. The lecturer will teach four business courses per semester, advise students, and provide service to the Department of Finance Insurance, Real Estate, and Law. Teaching will be at the Denton main campus using both face-to-face and online modalities. Course assignment will be based on the needs of the department, but typically include the Legal Environment of Business, International Business Law, Corporation Law, Law for Accountants and Managers, and Law for Managers and Entrepreneurs.
Minimum Qualifications This position requires a
J.D.
from an ABA-accredited law school combined with substantial professional experience in business law to meet AACSB instructional practitioner standards. The successful candidate must demonstrate expertise across multiple business law areas including legal environment of business, international business law, corporation law, and specialized law courses for accountants, managers, and entrepreneurs.
Essential skills include effective teaching abilities for both face-to-face and online delivery, student advising capabilities, and commitment to departmental service. The role demands adaptability to teach four courses per semester using various modalities and platforms like Canvas or Blackboard.
Preferred Qualifications Preferred qualifications include prior university-level teaching experience with positive evaluations, familiarity with online learning platforms, and an
MBA
alongside the
J.D. . The ability to conduct applied or pedagogical research would enhance the candidate's profile for this comprehensive teaching-focused position.
Required License/Registration/Certifications J.D.
from an ABA-accredited law school at the time of application and significant professional/technical experience related to the area of business law. The candidate's record must be sufficient to qualify as an instructional practitioner according to the AACSB standards.
