The System Designer II will be responsible for providing design, engineering, modeling, drafting, and budgeting support for projects across North America. They will also assist in developing company design standards, templates, blocks, families, details, and processes.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Coordinate with customers and understand their needs to perform detailed designs of Low Voltage technology systems such as Cabling, Security, Audio Visual, and DAS. Cross-training across disciplines is encouraged.
Attend and host meetings independently, take notes, follow up on action items, and communicate commitments.
Collaborate with estimators and engineers to develop project budgets, technical requirements, and scopes of work.
Work with the Sales team and Project Sponsors to understand client needs and ensure excellent client experience.
Prepare detailed budgets and perform electronic takeoffs using Bluebeam.
Manage projects including billing, cash flow, cost projections, and schedules.
Create system flow diagrams, security riser diagrams, network diagrams, and develop network diagrams.
Draft and model using Autodesk CAD and Revit, coordinating closely with Drafters and BIM Modelers.
Provide peer reviews of designs and documentation.
Participate in project kickoff meetings and support construction administration as needed.
Assist estimators, engineers, project managers, and other staff as requested.
Support existing or potential customers professionally via phone, email, or in person.
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of design experience
5+ years of experience in low voltage or technology industries
Preferred Qualifications:
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, MS Office, MS Teams, MS Projects, etc.
Certifications such as RCDD, CTS, PSP are highly preferred.
Professional Competencies:
Effective communication across multiple platforms
Continuous learning in AV, Security, Networking, and product offerings
Maintain industry certifications and knowledge of low voltage systems
Strong soft skills including approachability, maturity, listening, adaptability, and interpersonal skills
Physical Demands:
Ability to communicate effectively (see, hear, speak, write)
Manual dexterity for reaching, lifting small objects, and operating office equipment
Working Conditions:
Clean, well-lit, ventilated office environment with low to moderate noise levels
Some travel may be required
Pay: $33.00 - $50.00/hour (DOE)
