Job Description
The System Designer II will be responsible for providing design, engineering, modeling, drafting, and budgeting support for projects across the organization, covering all North American geographies. They will also assist the Design Group Leadership and colleagues in developing our company design standards, templates, blocks, families, details, and processes.
Roles & Responsibilities :
Coordinate and interact with customers (end users, architects, construction managers, general contractors, electrical engineers, and others) to understand their needs and perform detailed designs of Low Voltage technology systems such as Cabling, Security, Audio Visual, and DAS.
Specialize in one Low Voltage Trade, with cross-training across disciplines expected.
Attend and host meetings independently, take and distribute notes, follow up on action items, and communicate commitments.
Coordinate with estimators and engineers across North America to develop project budgets, design requirements, and scopes of work for all Low Voltage sub-disciplines.
Work with the Sales team and Project Sponsors to understand client and project needs, ensuring a positive client experience.
Prepare detailed budgets using technical estimating resources.
Perform electronic takeoffs with Bluebeam software.
Manage assigned projects, including billing, cash flow, cost projections, and scheduling.
Create systems flow line diagrams, security riser diagrams, door details, mounting diagrams, and network diagrams.
Perform drafting and modeling using Autodesk CAD and Revit as needed.
Collaborate with Drafters and BIM Modelers for CAD requests and feedback.
Review designs and documentation prepared by others as directed.
Participate in kickoff meetings to facilitate project transitions from design to build.
Perform construction administration on design projects.
Provide support to estimators, engineers, project managers, and other staff.
Support existing or potential customers professionally via phone, email, or in person.
Required Qualifications :
5+ years of design experience.
5+ years of experience in the low voltage or technology industries.
Preferred Qualifications :
Proficiency in software platforms such as AutoCAD, Revit, MS Office Suite, MS Teams, MS Projects, etc.
Low Voltage Design Certifications like RCDD, CTS, PSP are highly preferred.
Professional Competencies :
Effective management of multiple communication platforms.
Ongoing knowledge enhancement in AV, Security, Networking, and related systems.
Maintain industry certifications like CTS, CSPM, etc.
Stay current with Voice/Data Cabling Systems and product offerings in low voltage technology.
Develop strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical Demands :
Must be able to communicate effectively (see, hear, speak, write), with manual dexterity for reaching, lifting small objects, and operating office equipment. Working Conditions :
Office environment that is clean, well-lit, ventilated, with low to moderate noise levels. Some travel may be required. Pay :
