Greenfield Deepwater Automation Lead

Audubon is currently seeking a Greenfield Deepwater Automation Lead to join our team from our New Orleans, LA or Houston, TX offices (with travel as required) supporting a new offshore production platform project in the Gulf of America. The Automation Lead will oversee the design, configuration, and implementation of Rockwell ControlLogix PLCs, FactoryTalk View SE HMI, and AADvance Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS). This role is key to ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient automation execution for a flagship offshore greenfield project. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES : Provide leadership and technical direction for automation scope on a new offshore platform. Configure and program Rockwell ControlLogix PLCs and FactoryTalk View SE HMI. Ensure design meets applicable standards (API, ISA, IEC) and client specifications. Configure and program AADvance SIS in compliance with IEC 61511, API 14C, and client specifications. Lead system design reviews, FAT, SAT, commissioning, and offshore startup. Coordinate closely with multidisciplinary teams (process, electrical, I&E) to ensure integrated project delivery. Develop specifications for automation hardware, software, and network components. Ensure compliance with company and client quality standards, engineering procedures, and HSSE requirements. Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on programming, configuration, and project execution. Interface directly with clients, vendors, and contractors to align deliverables with scope, schedule, and budget. Support risk assessments, safety lifecycle verification, and documentation requirements. EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS : Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Automation, Computer, or related Engineering discipline (ABET-accredited preferred). 10+ years of experience in industrial automation and control systems, with 5+ years in offshore or deepwater projects. Proven expertise with Rockwell ControlLogix programming and FactoryTalk View SE HMI development. Hands-on experience configuring and programming AADvance or other SIS. Strong knowledge of IEC 61508 / IEC 61511 Functional Safety standards and API 14C requirements. Demonstrated ability to lead automation scope for large, greenfield capital projects.
