Daily monitoring of assigned classrooms (on-site and remotely), maintenance, troubleshooting, quick response to classroom problems and end-user training. Installation of UGA A/V systems to include coordination with system owners and other units such as EITS and FMD. Provide required documentation for systems and spaces in assigned area. Professional development activities related to instructional technologies. Percentage of time:
65% for daily monitoring and support; 20% for installation/coordination; 10% for documentation; 5% for professional development. Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, a 2-year degree, or professional certificate. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications. Preferred Qualifications:
Formal education in Audio/Visual, Electronics or related fields. AVIXA CTS/CTS-I, Extron AV Associate and/or other industry-specific manufacturer training and certifications. 3+ years of experience in installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Audio/Visual or related electronic systems. Knowledge of proper equipment rack wiring standards. Higher Education classroom support experience. Position Summary
The Instructional Technology Systems Assistant (A/V Systems Support and Installation) collaborates with and supports faculty and departments through design, development, implementation, evaluation and classroom support of instructional technologies in compliance with UGA and industry standards. Responsibilities include installation, maintenance and repair of integrated video/audio/data classroom presentation systems and related analog and digital instructional technologies, plus quick on-site and telephone support to minimize classroom downtime. Requires broad knowledge of current and evolving instructional technologies and resources. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, strong problem-solving abilities, intermediate to advanced knowledge of presentation systems, data/video projectors, AV equipment, control systems, and distance learning technology (video conferencing) and their signal flow. Valid Georgia driver’s license required. Intermediate to advanced PC/Mac hardware and software support preferred. Physical Demands
Lifting of AV equipment and climbing ladders are regular activities. Security and Compliance
