Minimum Qualifications Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, a 2‑year degree, or professional certificate. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications Formal education in Audio/Visual, Electronics or related fields. AVIXA CTS/CTS‑I, Extron AV Associate and/or other industry specific manufacturer training and certifications. 3+ years of experience in installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Audio/Visual or related electronic systems. Knowledge of proper equipment rack wiring standards. Higher Education classroom support experience.

Position Summary The Instructional Technology Systems Assistant (A/V Systems Support and Installation) position collaborates with and supports faculty and departments through the design, development, implementation, evaluation and classroom support of instructional technologies in compliance with UGA and industry standards. This position is responsible for the installation, maintenance and repair of integrated video/audio/data classroom presentation systems and related analog and digital instructional technologies. This individual will also provide quick, efficient telephone and on‑site support for classroom instructional technology and/or systems to ensure minimal classroom downtime. Employees in this position must possess broad knowledge of current and evolving instructional technologies and resources.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities And or Competencies The position requires excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, good problem‑solving skills, intermediate to advanced knowledge of presentation systems, data/video projectors, audio/visual equipment, control systems, and distance learning technology (video conferencing) and their associated signal flow. Valid Georgia driver’s license is required. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of PC and Mac hardware and software support is preferred.

Physical Demands Lifting of AV equipment and climbing ladders are regular activities.

Duties/Responsibilities

Daily monitoring of assigned classrooms (on‑site and remotely), maintenance, troubleshooting, quick response to classroom problems and end‑user training.

Installation of UGA A/V systems to include coordination with system owners and other units such as EITS and FMD.

Provide required documentation for systems and spaces in assigned area.
