Overview Join the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) as an Enforcement Attorney and help safeguard the integrity of Texas’ health and human services programs. The position is based in Austin, TX and supports the Enforcement Department within the Legal Services Division.

Job Title & Details Functional Title: Enforcement Attorney Position Title: Attorney IV Posting Number: 10181 Closing Date: 11/12/2025 Salary Range: $10,383.83 - $13,051.00 per month

Responsibilities The Enforcement Attorney provides legal representation, consultation, and support across the Health and Human Services system. Key duties include:

Represent HHSC in contested cases governed by the Administrative Procedure Act.

Prepare, file, and manage litigation filings and discovery requests in district courts.

Consult program staff on complex legal issues related to sanctions and enforcement.

Develop and conduct training on hearing processes.

Manage a busy docket of cases, including motion practice, deposition, and briefing.

Qualifications

Licensed to practice law in Texas and admitted to the State Bar of Texas.

Accredited law school graduation with an LLB or JD.

Minimum of two years of experience practicing law, with preferred administrative law experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs)

Skilled in legal research, writing, and analysis.

Strong administrative procedures and civil trial practice knowledge.

Demonstrates sound judgment and collaborative teamwork.

Capable of managing multiple tasks, meeting tight deadlines, and communicating effectively.

Proficient with computer applications related to essential functions.

Additional Information HHSC uses E‑Verify and requires I‑9 documentation on the first day of work. Telework is available. The position may require background and other pre‑employment checks.
