Position purpose :
The accountant will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organization's assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Analyze and/or reconcile assigned General Ledger accounts
Review, maintain, initiate and request Certificates of Insurance
Review and repair daily discrepancies between finished goods on hand and supporting pallet quantities
Reconcile accounts receivable and accounts payable general ledger to supporting subsidiaries
Reconcile monthly sales reports to general ledger
Prepare and post journal entries
Review monthly maintenance parts costs
Prepare monthly state and federal milk reports
Establish costs for milk PO purchases
Generate monthly intercompany report
Reconcile monthly third party billings for employee benefit premiums to the general ledger
Fixed asset accounting
Analyze clearing account and rectify errors
Maintain analysis of utility expenses
Generate monthly Operations reports
Banking duties as assigned
Prepare annual vendor and buyer ethics mailing
Initiate and finalize annual review of maintenance parts for obsolescence
Complete and file annual State unclaimed property report
Provide outside auditors with assistance, gathering necessary account information and documents for annual audit
Monthly rebate accruals and reconciliations
Maintain knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures
Perform other related duties as assigned
On-site/In office work only
SKILLS REQUIRED
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting
Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, and accounting software
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in accounting, or related field required
At least two years of related accounting experience required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
