In this position, the employee will inspect all incoming as well as outgoing cargo and/or equipment (i.e., container, chassis, and refrigerated units, etc.) and enter the necessary information into the hand-held computers. This position will also be cross-trained and float between the TIR and Vehicle Receiving departments. In the Vehicle Receiving department, the employee will inspect all incoming vehicles (such as trucks, cars, buses, etc.) and enter information into the tablet. The employee is responsible for driving the vehicle to the staging area and for loading on the appropriate equipment for transfer (specialized containers, car racks, flat racks). Vehicles may include cars, trucks, and buses. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Qualifications: Required Minimum one (1) year experience working as a receiving clerk in an industrial environment such as a warehouse or marine terminal processing cargo and/or vehicles. A valid driver’s license with clean driving record. Must be able to read, write, and speak English at a Basic level. Must possess basic computer skills. Must possess strong communications skills. Must be able to accurately process alpha/numeric information. Must be able to perform assignments safely and efficiently in various roles and departments. Ability to obtain internal forklift certification within 90 days of employment. Ability to work extended hours, weekends, holidays, as needed. Ability to work with limited supervision and strong initiative. Ability to work in a high paced, deadline-oriented environment. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers, vendors and fellow employees. Ability to think logically and make sound decisions. Organizational and time management skills. Excellent interpersonal skills. Must have or be able to obtain a TWIC card within 30 days of employment. Preferred Familiarity with vehicle components. Data entry experience. Experience handling hazardous cargo documentation. Experience operating a forklift at OSHA standards. Duties and Responsibilities
Primary – TIR Department Performs a visual inspection of the truck and equipment for obvious mechanical and structural deficiencies or damages. This includes, but not limited to tail lights, indicator lights, tires, mud flaps, and reflectors validity of license plate currency of annual highway inspections stickers, and any obvious tears or rips in the container to ensure that it is roadworthy. Inspects the interior of empty containers; the doors of the containers are opened by the driver. Records any discrepancies and/or damages on the hand-held computer or at the computer station. Checks the TIR release from the driver for accuracy and signs the release. This job function includes examination of the scale receipt, bookings, equipment numbers, chassis numbers, reflectors, and seals on outgoing or loaded containers. Makes minor repairs such as replace crank handles for landing gear, affix tape over small tears, install necessary placards, remove or spray over unnecessary placards, and replace expired license plates. Perform other related duties as assigned. Secondary Perform miscellaneous office duties such as preparing documentation, stuffing interoffice envelopes with documents containing the daily transactions for the different divisions at the main office. Must maintain a clean work area, free of debris or safety hazards. Carries boxes of container seals to replenish supply, as needed. Additional duties as assigned. Primary – Vehicle Receiving Department Responsible for receiving transporters and providing assistance during the check-in process. Checks booking number before receiving vehicles and/or cargo to ensure accuracy. Contacts supervisors and/or the Dispatch department to inform and resolve any discrepancies with the booking. Inspects all incoming vehicles and enters information into the tablet. Records all discrepancies and/or damages on the Vehicle Dock Receipt and tablet. Documents with label date received, booking number, serial number and D/R number. Loads/drives the vehicle into the container/car racks and sets up ramps and straps, which are used to secure the vehicles once in the container/car racks. Perform other related duties as assigned. Secondary Operates a forklift to maneuver inoperable vehicles to the staging areas and setting up ramps. Must be able to perform set up for containers/car racks including setting up racks, opening gates, staging straps, secure cars with straps, prepare for malfunctions of vehicles including dead batteries and/or parts and equipment. Responsible for identifying and placing Tag Flag (color coded) in which they label vehicles by flags for specified location. Must maintain a clean work area, free of debris or safety hazards. Additional duties as assigned. Physical Requirements The employee is continuously required to walk, stand, grasp, reach forward, talk, use repetitive foot motion, use repetitive wrist motion, hear and use eye-hand coordination. The employee must continuously use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to twist, pinch, bend forward, climb, squat, reach overhead, and use eye-hand-foot coordination, finger dexterity. The employee is frequently required to lift/carry up to 5lbs, push up to 10lbs, and pull up to 50lbs. The employee is occasionally required to sit, kneel, crawl, balance, lift/carry up to 30lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Safety Requirements
