Sommers Schwartz is seeking an experienced attorney to join our Wage & Hour litigation team.
In this regular, full-time, exempt position, the associate attorney will assist in representing clients at every stage of litigation, including intake and pre-suit investigation, discovery, motion practice, pre-trial proceedings, dispute resolution, and trial.
Job responsibilities
Researching and investigating the law and facts in a wide variety of complex Employment and Wage & Hour matters.
Drafting and preparing pleadings, motions, briefs, interrogatories, and other legal documents.
Communicating with clients, courts, and opposing counsel during litigation.
Helping to manage pre-screened digital and written inquiries from prospective clients generated from firm websites, advertisements, and/or inbound cold calls.
Evaluating potential cases to determine if they align with the practice area’s criteria.
Collecting relevant client information, such as client details, case specifics, and relevant documents.
Collaborating with shareholders, other associates, paralegals, and professional staff.
Appearing in federal and state courts for motions, hearings, conferences, and other proceedings.
Interviewing and deposing parties, witnesses, and experts, and preparing witnesses for deposition and trial examination.
Participating in firm activities, meetings, and events.
Qualifications
Graduate of a law school fully accredited by the American Bar Association.
Superior legal research, drafting, and advocacy skills.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with clients, co-counsel, and opposing counsel.
Solid organizational skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced litigation environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
Business hours are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, but additional work may be necessary. A background check, in accordance with applicable employment laws, is required. Sommers Schwartz is an equal opportunity employer.
