6 days ago Be among the first 25 applicants The New Mexico VA Healthcare System (NMVAHCS) is seeking an Anesthesiology Medical Director in Albuquerque, NM. The NMVAHCS has an academic affiliation with the University of New Mexico. This position offers the possibility of obtaining a clinical appointment at the University of New Mexico and allows time for academic study and responsibilities. The Anesthesia Service is a collegial department comprising Anesthesiologists, CRNAs, anesthesia residents, medical students, and SRNAs who rotate through the department. VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package, including: Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus):
Highly qualified individuals may be eligible for a recruitment/relocation incentive according to agency policy. To qualify, the candidate must be among the best qualified and meet VA criteria. Service agreement required. Pay:
Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases. Paid Time Off:
50-55 days per year (26 days annual leave, 13 sick days, 11 federal holidays, and possibly 5 days for CME). Retirement:
Federal pension (5-year vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% VA contributions. Insurance:
Federal health, vision, dental, term life, and long-term care insurance, many of which can be carried into retirement. Licensure:
One full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory. CME:
Up to $1,000 annually (full-time, board-certified). Malpractice:
Free liability protection with tail coverage. Contract:
No physician employment contract or significant restrictions on moonlighting. Major duties include but are not limited to: Linking clinical improvements to operational efficiency, managing complex problems, and planning departmental activities. Formulating goals, plans, and programs in coordination with hospital leadership. Collaborating with executive, managerial, and clinical leaders on policy and resource planning. Involving union leadership in policy decisions affecting staff. Monitoring outcomes and working with management to meet program goals. Identifying needs and proposing funding and resource requests. Maintaining quality control and continuous quality improvement programs. Developing and recommending service policies and administrative procedures. Coordinating interdisciplinary activities to ensure quality patient care. Defining service requirements and participating in multidisciplinary meetings. Recommending staffing levels to ensure quality care. Performing other duties as assigned. Work Schedule:
