Description
The incumbent will function as a faculty member in the Department of Surgery, in the Division of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation. The incumbent will be responsible for active participation in the development and delivery of instructional activities to students, residents, and allied health professionals and for service and research functions related to specialty interest and expertise. Examples of Duties
ADMINISTRATION 5% Perform administrative duties as requested by the Chairman of the Division of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation. TEACHING 15% Participate in the development and implementation of undergraduate curricula in orthopaedics, directly engage in residency training, mentor on the Basic Surgical Clerkship, serve as a resource on clinical management of orthopaedic patients, and participate in continuing education programs. RESEARCH 15% Stimulate and initiate clinical research in orthopaedics, seek grant support, and serve as a role model for residents and students in research and medical writing. SERVICE 65% Demonstrate commitment to SIU School of Medicine's mission, work on community trauma program development, exemplify skilled surgical practice, maintain clinical proficiency, share in call schedules, participate in committees, represent the division, and assist in patient care program development. Qualifications
Sensitive to the needs of underrepresented minority populations. Graduate of an accredited medical school. Licensed or eligible to practice medicine in Illinois. Completed an Orthopaedic residency program. Board Eligible or Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery.
