Harrison Bay Future Ready Center serves students from Central and Ooltewah High Schools, along with a lottery enrollment for incoming out-of-zone freshmen interested in the Institute of Architecture and Engineering Design or Institute of Advanced Manufacturing. Effective teaching at Harrison Bay Future Ready Center is facilitating student-centered work that is balanced by both rigor and love and is supported by a strong classroom culture and high expectations. Our academic program is based upon our Cornerstones. Curiosity Collaboration Career Readiness Innovative Thinking Continuous Reflection and Refinement We intentionally plan for student learning in both the short and long term. This is demonstrated through rigorous lesson plans that provide an engaging hook that supports curiosity. We have a strong belief in the spirit of collaboration to foster a spirit of collective efficacy among teachers and students. Literacy is the primary driver of student success; we offer embedded literacy practice in all content areas to build passionate readers and writers who are “ready for college, ready for life.” Responsibilities

- Deeply understand the Tennessee English Language Arts Standards and establish clear learning targets for every lesson. Build rigorous and aligned assessments and consistently implement high-leverage literacy practices. Follow Hamilton County Schools’ instructional framework, including:

- Build a safe and productive classroom culture. Positive relationships are evident, procedures are clear, and the classroom is safe and secure for learning to unfold. Student and teacher interactions promote a growth mindset. Family & Community
- Consistently develop strong relationships with students’ families while diligently informing parents of expectations, positive news, and/or concerns about their children. Provide opportunities for parents to be involved in their children’s learning. Professional Responsibilities
- Actively participates in professional learning communities (PLCs) with colleagues in order to improve teaching and student learning. Reflect on instruction and leadership while contributing ideas, expertise, and time to the mission and goals of the school. Qualifications
Committed to high academic achievement and high expectations for all students Able to be a positive team-player and communicate effectively with colleagues, supervisors, students, and families Open to being coached and receiving feedback in order to advance learning and growth for students Professional with high personal standards and integrity Teaching candidate must hold a valid state of Tennessee teaching certification in 6-12 English or be an upcoming graduate in an accredited teacher preparation program. If you hold a teaching license in another state, you must apply for a Tennessee teaching license. Candidates must hold a bachelor\'s degree. Compensation
Salary is based on a combination of relevant education and experience. This position may be eligible for an increase in total compensation. The Differentiated Compensation Plan applies to designated schools and hard-to-staff positions. Please see the Differentiated Compensation document for more details.
