Overview

Team Lead Sergeant - Police Officer at Indiana University Health. Location: Riley Hospital. Schedule: Full Time Rotating Shifts. Responsibilities

Conduct rounds and foot and vehicle patrols in and around properties owned, leased, or occupied by IU Health. Respond to calls for service. Enforce IU Health rules, regulations, policies, and state statutes. Provide direction and guidance to team members, guests, and patients. Assist teams with de-escalating tense, uncertain, and emotional situations. Proactively work to prevent crime and safety incidents. Respond to and investigate criminal activity and vehicle crashes as needed. Maintain records and logs and complete written reports as required. Perform physical security screening as required. Create a safe healthcare environment for team members, patients, and guests. Oversee shift operations and supervise police officers and Public Safety Officers. Issue work assignments and supervise work activities of all assigned personnel. Complete and approve work schedules to ensure proper shift coverage. Assist other public safety agencies as needed. Respond to officers’ calls for assistance and assume on-scene command of critical incidents. Control and assess situations, identify appropriate actions to preserve crime scenes, compile critical information, and coordinate activities with other jurisdictions. Act in capacity of senior departmental officer in absence of more senior ranking officer. Perform other duties as assigned by the chain of command. Qualifications

Requires high school diploma or GED equivalent and five (5) years of law enforcement experience, OR an Associate's degree and three (3) years of law enforcement experience. Requires current non-restricted Indiana Driver's License. Requires previous successful completion of Indiana Law Enforcement Tier I or II training, and successful completion of the IU Health DPS field training program. Must be able to obtain NCIC/ICAS certification and access. Must not have convictions for felony, domestic violence, or violent misdemeanor offenses. Must be able to pass a pre-employment background investigation, drug screening, and psychological exam. Requires working knowledge of computers and various software programs. Job details
