Pruning Specialist - Urban Forestry Division

The Pruning Specialist - Urban Forestry Division position is responsible for the care and maintenance of public trees. Apply today! Essential Job Functions Operates a chainsaw, brush chipper, stump grinder, and dump truck. Assists with setting up and tying ropes and rigging for pruning and tree removals. Inspect and maintain assigned equipment: woodchipper, chainsaws, stump grinder, etc. Prune trees using professional tree pruning standards. Responds to after-hours emergencies as needed. Plants trees. Water newly planted trees. Assists in grinding of stumps and removal of chipped debris. Controls traffic at work sites; sets out signs and traffic cones. Participates in site cleanup. Serves on the City's critical response team. Perform other related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent with three (3) years of tree maintenance experience or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Must possess a valid driver's license, state class B commercial driver's license preferred, with an acceptable driving history.
Additional Requirements Background investigation, including supervised drug screen, post offer/pre-employment medical screen, and verification of education, certifications, and licenses required prior to employment. Additional Information Knowledge of tree care and removal procedures and safety techniques. Knowledge of tree species. Knowledge of rigging, ropes, and knots used in tree care work. Skill in the operation of chainsaws, pole saws, bucket trucks, chippers, stump grinders, and other job-related equipment. Skill in the maintenance and repair of assigned vehicles and equipment. Skill in oral and written communication.
