Overview
Teton County Parks and Recreation is seeking a Full-Time Irrigation Technician. This position operates, maintains, and repairs irrigation systems in parks and athletic fields and oversees all aspects of water usage in County parks, including bathrooms. Responsibilities
Performs maintenance and repair work on irrigation systems including plumbing and electrical components. Irrigates assigned fields and areas; schedules irrigation programs; manages water usage in parks and athletic fields in accordance with Department water conservation objectives. Completes irrigation start up and blow out procedures in parks and restroom facilities. Assists with park landscape maintenance as needed. Performs winter maintenance to include ice rinks and snow removal. Provides regular maintenance and minor repairs to tools and equipment. Supports the relationship between the Teton County staff and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with visitors and County staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and County information; performs other duties as required or assigned. Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED equivalent One year experience in turf and irrigation system maintenance Required Licenses And Certifications
Must possess or ability to obtain a valid Wyoming/Idaho Driver’s License and maintain an acceptable driving record. Required Knowledge
Methods and techniques involved in irrigation system maintenance and repair. County policies and procedures. Proper use of power tools, hand tools and equipment. Safety rules and regulations, occupational hazards, and safety precautions. Methods and techniques involved in landscaping and turf maintenance. Required Skills
Operating various tools and equipment used in landscaping and irrigation maintenance. Performing plumbing and electrical repairs. Following written and verbal instructions. Physical Demands / Work Environment
The majority of work is outdoors in various weather conditions; constant physical effort; may be exposed to dangerous tools and equipment; safety precautions must be followed including use of safety equipment. Required to work routine nights and weekends as part of regular schedule. Required to work unsupervised in the presence of children or vulnerable adults.
