$30.00/hour Job Goal The homebound teacher will provide supportive instruction to Brandywine School District students who are eligible for homebound services. Homebound instruction for students with disabilities will include specially designed instruction to make progress toward IEP goals and benchmarks. The teacher is to provide access to the general education curriculum by adapting instruction on grade-level standards. The homebound teacher is responsible for planning and adapting/modifying instructional materials when necessary. Job Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree with concentration in specific subject matter. Standard or Professional Teaching Certification required in specific subject matter area and/or Special Education. Master’s Degree and/or previous teaching experience preferred. Essential Functions Works with the Educational Services staff, the school building homebound coordinator, and the classroom teacher to coordinate materials and instruction for homebound students. Meets with each assigned student on a regularly scheduled basis for the purpose of providing instruction. Students receive 3-5 hours of instruction per week, respectively, for elementary, middle, and high school levels. Facilitates a positive and orderly environment for learning for the homebound student. Keeps, maintains and files such reports and records as may be required, including progress reports and weekly timesheets for payroll. Works cooperatively with the parents/guardians of homebound students to implement the child’s instructional program. Works cooperatively with the building staff of homebound students to obtain work. Assumes responsibility for obtaining textbooks and other teaching materials necessary for homebound instruction through the procedures established. Attends meetings and trainings as requested. Manages confidential information in a professional manner and in accordance with district and state policies, protocols, and laws. Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; type or write; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; taste or smell. Visual requirements include close, distance, and color vision, peripheral and depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds. If lifting beyond this weight is necessary, assistance of a second person may be required. The position may require performing all essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations. Work Requirement This position normally performs the majority of work virtually, in the student’s home, or in a community building.
