Touchmark at Emerald Lake is a full-service retirement community seeking a talented Sous Chef with excellent culinary skill and high energy to join our culinary team. The role supports the Chef with culinary and administrative tasks and contributes to resident and guest satisfaction by delivering high-quality food, product standards, sanitation, and safety.
Responsibilities
Assist the Chef with culinary preparation, arrangement, and plating per the current menu.
Set up, stock, and maintain kitchen stations with all necessary supplies.
Train new and existing kitchen staff on preparation, plating, and standards.
Ensure adherence to high food standards, sanitation, and safety, and contribute to a high-volume kitchen operation.
Support a positive, professional attitude when dealing with guests and team members.
Make decisions in high-pressure situations and demonstrate leadership to motivate the team.
Qualifications
High School diploma required; degree in culinary arts or related field highly preferred.
Three years of progressive experience in a similar environment.
Experience training kitchen staff and managing station setup and inventory.
Proficiency with computers, including MS Excel and Outlook.
Strong understanding of cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
Accurate and fast execution of tasks; demonstrated success in running a profitable kitchen.
Experience managing and motivating a team; ability to work weekends and holidays.
Valid food handler’s card; excellent interpersonal, organizational, and supervisory skills.
Experience in a high-volume kitchen; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
