Oakmont Education Job Purpose: The Construction Instructor will manage the NCCER Certification process of students in the construction pathway. The instructor will adhere to all requirements for training for industry-recognized credentials including OSHA 10 and NCCER Core (Introduction to the Construction Trades). This individual maintains records and provides all documentation required by each credentialing entity and ensures that each student receives their certification by appropriately registering, filing, and submitting all steps necessary to complete the credentialing process. The instructor also provides modeling and instruction of employability / soft skills necessary to attain and retain employment in the construction sector and ensures effective communication as a member of the school team. Description: The Construction Instructor will manage the NCCER Certification process of students in the construction pathway, adhere to credentialing requirements (OSHA 10, NCCER Core), maintain records, and submit steps to complete certifications. The instructor will model and teach employability / soft skills and maintain effective communication as part of the school team. Duties And Responsibilities

Primary job duties and responsibilities: Uses approved curricula, teaches workplace safety resulting in the awarding of the OSHA – 10 Basic Safety certification. Implements construction laboratory safety plan and adheres to procedures for reporting accidents/injuries. Develops and coordinates a pacing guide aligned with NCCER curricula to ensure adequate time for participants to learn construction skills and achieve industry credentials. Provides a supportive and optimistic learning environment with active student engagement. Ensures participants engage in functional construction activities using varied instructional methodologies to accommodate different learning styles. Coordinates with academic teachers to identify learners needing accommodations and incorporates those accommodations into instructional activities and testing with respect for dignity, privacy, and respect. Provides support and guidance to participants as they develop construction craft skills with emphasis on employability / soft skills such as teamwork, communication, accountability, and resiliency. Incorporates critical thinking and project- or problem-based learning to develop communication and teamwork skills. Maintains proactive, open, and effective communication with other school team members regarding participation, performance, and well-being. Mentors, coaches, and advises students about workforce skills needed to gain employment; uses personal experiences to guide leadership development, self-discipline, and optimism. With the School Director and Director of Career-Technical Education, helps build relationships with construction-related partners that may provide employment opportunities for graduates. Provides required performance reports; participates in relevant meetings, workshops, and committees. Maintains a detailed tracking system and completes all steps of certification processes to ensure students receive credentials in a timely manner. Performance Outcomes

Maintains and provides weekly updates on the Progress Tracker for each credential. Ensures completion of Credit Flex Plans so that students may be awarded available academic credits. Ensures students are enrolled in the correct DASL course. Completes all steps for students to take the certification test and provides copies of certifications to the Placement Specialist for inclusion in the Career Portfolio for graduation. Assists in securing Workforce Experience (WEX) opportunities and ensures classroom learning supports WEX placement. Participates in Quarterly Workforce Advisory Committee as needed. Assists in recruitment and retention of students in this pathway, focusing on attendance and certification completion. Qualifications, Education And Experience

No restrictions in securing an Ohio Department of Education vocational teacher license or permit. Exceptional craft skills in construction. Commitment to the company’s mission, vision, and growth. Commitment to continued personal and professional growth. Experience Preferred: Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction or a construction-related field. Proficient with NCCER preferred. Education Preferred: High School Diploma or Equivalent. Working Conditions

This job is performed in a craft classroom / laboratory environment but may extend to an in-field learning opportunity. Physical Requirements
