Meat Manager – Woodbridge, VA
Safeway, a leading retailer, invites a dedicated Meat Manager to lead our Woodbridge Meat Department.

Responsibilities
Provide high‑quality customer service in accordance with Safeway’s service standards.
Oversee daily operations, staffing, and scheduling of the Meat Department.
Apply and enforce company policies, including food, employee, and customer safety procedures.
Review sales and inventory reports to identify successes and improvement opportunities.
Schedule, supervise, train, and assign duties to meat cutters and clerks.
Follow division merchandising and markdown programs, including pricing and display guidelines.
Perform monthly inventory of sales floor and backroom; maintain accurate records.
Write meat orders and check deliveries for accuracy and quality.
Cull meat cases daily per division guidelines; inspect displayed products for expired dates.
Use grinder, tenderizer, saw, and knives to safely cut, trim, and prepare meat products.
Perform internal and regulatory food‑safety requirements (e.g., daily temp/tare log checks).
Make displays and signage as needed to ensure pricing integrity.
Take special customer orders and provide special cuts.
Adhere to uniform and grooming policies.
Qualifications
Knowledge of processing different cuts of meat.
Previous experience as a meat wrapper/clerk or meat cutter.
Prior department operations and staff management experience.
Ability to operate saws, grinders, and other meat‑processing machinery.
Computer proficiency for checking communications, bulletins, and access reports.
Excellent customer‑service skills.
Ability to understand and follow instructions and read, retain, and comprehend guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Multi‑task and work independently within a fast‑paced, team environment.
Self‑motivated and driven to increase knowledge of Safeway products and share that knowledge with Safeway customers.
Regular and predictable attendance; schedules may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Compliance with workplace conduct standards.
