Academic Advisor II
– Georgia State University, Office of Graduate Student Services, College of Education and Human Development Location: Atlanta Campus Employment type: Full Time (Benefits Eligible) · Shift: Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 5:15 pm · Salary: $50,000-$52,000
Responsibilities
Process graduate applications for the college's 79+ graduate programs, including calculating overall GPA and verifying that applicants meet minimum admission requirements established by the faculty.
Enter admission decisions in Banner and in Slate (the graduate application) after faculty decisions are made.
Advise MA T (Master of Arts in Teaching) and MIS (Master of Interdisciplinary Studies) students on graduation requirements each semester.
Communicate with students and faculty advisors to ensure degree requirements are met for graduation.
Assist with hosting graduate information sessions on the application process, attend orientations and recruitment events as needed.
Enter teacher education records in the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) database each semester for new admits to teacher education programs.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree and three years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
Preferred Requirements
Master’s degree in education or a related field
Experience working under tight deadlines
Ability to prioritize workflow as volume increases
Clear and concise communication with applicants, students, and faculty
Ability to collaborate in a large office environment within the Graduate Student Services Team
Desire to assist students with academic success in a graduate program
Attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness in work
