We deliver secure, high-quality language solutions in more than 80 spoken and signed languages for USCIS and other federal agencies. We are seeking Kirghiz (Kyrgyz) Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Kirghiz is a Turkic language spoken in Kyrgyzstan and across Central Asia and is a high-priority language in asylum, refugee, and immigration cases. Remote position with opportunities for career advancement and professional development.
Position
Kirghiz (Kyrgyz) Over-the-Phone Interpreter (OPI) for USCIS. This is a remote role supporting federal contracts.
Responsibilities
Provide real-time Kirghiz (Kyrgyz) English telephonic interpretation for USCIS officers, applicants, and stakeholders. Interpret accurately, impartially, and professionally in immigration and asylum contexts. Maintain confidentiality in line with USCIS/DHS interpreter ethics and standards. Handle both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge interpretation requests. Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance reviews.
Qualifications
Native or near-native fluency in Kirghiz (Kyrgyz) and English. 2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, legal, asylum, NGO, or government preferred). Knowledge of interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and cultural awareness. Strong communication skills; ability to remain accurate under pressure. Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 federal clearance.
Compensation & Benefits
Base pay range: $28.00/hr – $35.00/hr (pay found in job post). Flexible schedule and remote work using secure USCIS-approved systems. Paid training and professional development. Opportunity for advancement within quality assurance or linguist leadership. Steady assignments under a federal contract.
