Summary The EHS Manager is responsible for leading and managing comprehensive environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs across multiple facility locations and 1,000 employees. This role involves developing strategic EHS initiatives, managing a team of EHS professionals, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a culture of safety throughout the organization.
Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive EHS management systems and programs across the organization.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance performance and align with organizational goals.
Collaborate with leadership to integrate EHS considerations into business decisions.
Lead, mentor, and manage a team of EHS specialists.
Monitor and enforce applicable regulations/compliance at the federal, state, and local levels.
Conduct regular compliance audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement.
Develop and maintain EHS documentation, including safety procedures and records.
Investigate workplace injuries, near misses, property damage, and safety concerns to determine root causes and partner with necessary parties to implement corrective actions and prevent recurrence.
Conduct regular inspections of facilities and work areas to identify hazards and non-compliance issues.
Monitor safety equipment and ensure proper maintenance and functionality.
Oversee environmental programs including waste management, air and water quality monitoring, and chemical handling to minimize environmental impact.
Foster a positive safety culture by actively engaging employees in safety initiatives and clearly communicating safety policies and procedures.
Encourage open communication regarding safety concerns.
Safety Training and Education
Collaborate with the Training Department to develop and update safety and environmental training materials.
Conduct Authorized Training Sessions as needed for specialized training (e.g., Fall Protection, Confined Space Entry, and Powered Industrial Vehicles).
CPR/First Aid certification is preferred; manage on-site contractor safety performance and compliance.
Conduct periodically documented audits of on-site contractor work.
Ability to perform risk assessments; CSP or other relevant EHS certifications preferred.
OSHA 501, 511, 30-hour certifications are a plus.
Proficiency with computers and Microsoft applications; strong communication and leadership skills.
Experience and Education Experience: Minimum of 7 years in a manufacturing or industrial management safety role.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in safety science, environmental science, industrial hygiene, or related discipline (preferred).
