Overview As part of the Live! Hospitality & Entertainment family, with over 100 venues nationwide, you'll enjoy competitive DC wages, free parking, and development opportunities. The Line Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking orders in a timely manner while maintaining safety and cleanliness standards.
Responsibilities
Control food usage to minimize waste.
Prepare and cook orders for daily operations in a timely manner.
Advise supervisor of low inventory items; assist in receiving items and taking inventory as required.
Restock items as needed through the shift.
Maintain sanitation and cleanliness standards in the kitchen area that meet or exceed health board and company requirements.
Maintain a clean, neat and well-organized work area, including reach-ins, walk-ins and counters.
Report all unsafe or malfunctioning equipment to supervisor.
May assist by performing ware washing or other kitchen duties as needed.
Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments; may interact directly with guests.
Line Cook Qualifications
At least one year of experience cooking on a fast-paced kitchen line and food preparation experience.
Culinary certified training preferred.
Basic knowledge of cooking, following recipes, portion control, and presentation.
Strong communication skills when interacting with cooks, wait staff and supervisors.
Reading and writing abilities used for recipes, inventory monitoring, and scheduling support.
Basic math skills (percentages, quantities, variances).
Alcohol awareness certification and/or food service permit or valid health/food handler card as required by local or state government.
May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays.
The Line Cook position requires the ability to perform the following
Carrying or lifting items weighing up to 75 pounds.
Standing for extended periods and moving about the kitchen safely and efficiently.
Handling food, objects, products and utensils.
Bending, stooping, kneeling.
