The Site Safety & Health Officer (SSHO) is responsible for the development and/or review of the Accident Prevention Plan (APP), activity hazard analyses, amendments to the APP, on-site safety education, toolbox talks, overall safety compliance of the project, and proactive problem-solving of site-specific safety issues. The SSHO ensures compliance with local, state, and federal health and safety guidelines and procedures, ensures safety for all employees, keeps projects up to code, and provides advice and recommendations for safety improvements. The position requires reporting to a project site five days a week and living within proximity of the project location or surrounding areas. Richard values consistency and opportunity; the ideal candidate may be assigned to other project locations across the United States after the initial assignment. Responsibilities

Create and implement site-specific Accident Prevention Plan for construction per EM 385 1-1. Create and review Activity Hazard Analyses (AHA) and Work Plans based on the project schedule and definable features of work. Ensure all safety submittals are created, submitted, and approved well in advance of scheduled preparatory meetings. Be on site whenever work is performed and conduct site inspections and observations throughout the shift. Provide project safety orientations and briefs. Document Weekly Safety Meetings, Weekly Inspections, deficiencies and corrective actions, man hours worked, and any incidents. Lead and document near-miss and incident investigations with root cause analysis. Develop and implement OHS training programs. Oversee disposal of substances according to environmental guidelines. Ensure statutes, regulations, and codes are understood and met. Enforce safety and environmental policies and procedures. Minimum Qualifications

10+ years of construction safety experience with federal government construction projects. 30-hour OSHA construction safety certification. EM 385 certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire. Experience managing safety on projects $20MM+. Average of at least 24 hours of formal safety training each year for the past 4 years, with competency in at least four areas (e.g., Excavation, Scaffolding, Fall protection, Hazardous energy, Confined space, Health hazard recognition, First aid/CPR). Personal protective equipment selection, use, and maintenance knowledge. Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience. Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification. Healthcare or hospital experience. HAZWOPR 40, Lead awareness, blood-borne pathogens, attendant and rescue, trenching and shoring, forklift, man-lift, and fire watch training certification.
