The Foreign Language department is seeking a Spanish adjunct professor to teach Elementary level Spanish language. The position may involve teaching the equivalent of 5-10 credit hours or serving as a substitute professor. Responsibilities include collaboration with full-time and adjunct faculty and performing other duties as assigned. Responsibilities
Provide extra and co-curricular opportunities for Spanish language students. Participate in planning and administration of departmental initiatives. Participate in on-campus events promoting languages. Complete ACTFL and/or other departmental training. Assist with substitute teaching as needed; demonstrate a 30-minute class during interview (in person or via Zoom). Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Master of Arts degree in Spanish Demonstrated ability to teach Elementary and Intermediate Spanish courses Excellent communication and collaboration skills Knowledge of using technology in the classroom Ability to teach online using Zoom or similar platform At least 2 years of post-secondary teaching experience or 4 years of high school teaching experience Preferred Qualifications
Understanding of the climate of post-secondary institutions Knowledge of ACTFL World-Readiness Standards for Learning Languages ACTFL OPI certification (advanced mid or higher) or equivalent Ability to teach Chinese, German, Japanese, or French with HLC credentials PhD in Spanish Experience teaching Elementary and Intermediate Spanish language courses At least 4 years of post-secondary teaching experience Application Materials
