Overview
Ground Operations Crew loads and unloads customer bags, operates ground service equipment, coordinates servicing of arriving and departing aircraft, helps prepare aircraft cabin for departure, and assists with ramp service duties including waste disposal and re-servicing of aircraft. Crewmembers must be comfortable serving customers, proficient in using computers, and prepared to work outdoors under various weather conditions. Essential Responsibilities
Operate ground service equipment including motor vehicles, tugs, and elevated de-icing equipment Service aircraft by operating ground service equipment (potable water truck, ground power unit, tug, aircraft pushback, lavatory truck, deicing truck, etc.) Work in a ramp environment Tag, lift, load and unload customer bags (in excess of 100 lbs) from baggage compartments and baggage system Assist in preparing cabin for boarding and departure (cleaning seats, pockets, floors, galleys, and lavatories) Assist customers with special needs, e.g., assistance during boarding Guide aircraft to and from parking locations Carry a handheld radio and communicate with proper radio etiquette Occasionally assist with loading/unloading mail, small packages and human remains Ensure and maintain a safe environment and operation Other duties as assigned Minimum Experience And Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED One (1) year of customer service or sales experience Must be at least 18 years old Fluent in written and spoken English Must adhere to JetBlue Uniform Policy Manual Standards Able to travel and/or work variable hours, including holidays and weekends Able to follow safety guidelines Able to work under pressure and within fixed time constraints Able to work in all types of weather conditions May travel to other locations for training or temporary assignments Must be able to give and receive verbal communication Must be able to use handheld radios/headsets to communicate with cockpit, dispatch, and crewmembers Maintain a positive, good-natured attitude Ability to handle objects up to 50 pounds frequently and 70–100 pounds occasionally with assistance Must obtain and maintain a valid SIDA badge; may require US Customs clearance depending on location Valid Driver’s License with driving record meeting JetBlue standards Must complete an assessment evaluating Adaptability, Safety Orientation, and Teamwork Occasional overnight travel (up to 10%) Pre-employment drug test required Legally eligible to work in the country of the position; no visa sponsorship For internal candidates, good standing in attendance, performance, and safety Preferred Experience And Qualifications
