General Purpose
This position provides a visible presence at store entrances/exits, mitigates theft and fraud, and maintains a safe environment. The Specialist greets Customers in a courteous manner, demonstrates command presence in a vest/attire, and monitors the Code 50 package inspection policy. The role walks the sales floor to identify theft indicators as directed by Store Leadership and partners with Store Leadership to ensure compliance with Loss Prevention directives and minimize operational shortages. The role requires embracing company values and protecting the Ross treasure.
Essential Functions
Maintaining Safe & Secure Environment:
Understands safety as the top priority and assists Store Leadership in maintaining a safe environment for Associates and Customers. Provides visible presence at entrances/exits and on the sales floor in a company-issued vest/black attire, monitoring for potential safety issues. Removes clutter and ensures safe egress to emergency exits.
Developing Great Teams & Partnerships:
Delivers strong customer service by greeting customers, making eye contact, and answering questions in a friendly manner. Treats all customers and Associates with respect. Demonstrates courtesy and professionalism. Engages with internal and external partners and may include conference calls, district meetings, educating Associates, and providing recognition. Other duties may be assigned to support Loss Prevention initiatives.
Personal and Store Brand:
Represents and supports the Company brand at all times. Maintains a professional appearance per dress code.
Mitigating Theft & Fraud:
Monitors entrances/exits and the sales floor for potential theft, identifies suspicious behavior, communicates theft indicators to Store Leadership and Loss Prevention, adheres to external theft response policies, and maximizes productivity by following Best Practices.
Minimizing Operational Shortage:
Raises store awareness of shortage reduction processes and trains Associates on initiatives. Observes and validates proper checkout procedures for Customers and Associates.

Qualifications And Special Skills
High School education or equivalent required; AA degree preferred.
One year retail supervisor experience or similar training preferred.
One year loss prevention/security training preferred.
Active Security Guard License preferred.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with the Store team.
Excellent customer service skills.
Proven ability to effectively resolve conflict.
Must comply with applicable federal and state laws and regulations for security positions, including background screening, physical examination, fingerprinting and/or drug and alcohol testing as applicable.
Physical Requirements / ADA
Consistent timeliness and regular attendance.
Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the store.
Must be able to raise or lower objects more than 25 lbs., from one level to another.
Must be able to regularly bend, stoop, or crouch.
Certain assignments may require additional qualifications and skills.
